The Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain
800 Wildrose Lane, Big Bear Lake, CA
The Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain is one of Big Bear's most beloved attractions — a bobsled experience on a concrete track that has been bringing out the kid in visitors for decades. It's open year-round, with waterslides in summer and snow play in winter, plus go-karts and miniature golf available at almost any time.
The Ride
After riding a real chair lift to the top — with views of the surrounding mountain scenery on the way up — the real fun begins. Everyone who meets the height requirement gets their own bobsled. Smaller children can ride accompanied by an adult, much like sledding on a backyard hill.
The bobsled runners are covered in Teflon for a smooth, fast ride. The concrete track alternates between long flat stretches for building speed and sharp turns that catch you by surprise. The only thing better than riding it once is riding it again.
What Else Is There
Magic Mountain also features a Mineshaft Coaster, Go-Karts, a Soaring Eagle zip line, and a water slide in summer. Parents can watch from the spacious lawn and two sun decks while the kids work through the rides. There's enough here to fill a half-day easily.
