Snow Summit Big Bear

Snow Summit has been running since 1952 and is the anchor of Big Bear's ski season. It sits at a base elevation of 6,965 feet with a summit at 8,174 feet, giving it a 1,209-foot vertical drop across 240 acres of skiable terrain. There are 31 trails split across beginner, intermediate, and advanced runs, served by 14 lifts with a combined capacity of 18,550 riders per hour.

The resort is owned by Alterra Mountain Company and operates alongside Bear Mountain and Snow Valley under the Big Bear Mountain Resorts umbrella. A lift ticket at one works at all three, and a free shuttle runs between Snow Summit and Bear Mountain throughout the day.

On the Mountain

Intermediate runs make up the bulk of the terrain, with standouts like Westridge (the longest run at 1.25 miles), Miracle Mile, and Timber Ridge. Advanced skiers head to The Wall, Olympic, and Side Chute. Night skiing is available, and snowmaking covers 100% of the developed terrain so the season holds even in lean snow years.

Snow Summit accepts IKON passes, making it a natural fit for pass holders looking for a Southern California ski day within two hours of Los Angeles.

Getting There
